Why an email list at all
Because search traffic is borrowed and a list is not. A site that depends entirely on ranking is one algorithm update away from silence, and readers who want the research should be able to get it without going through a search engine every time.
It also keeps the incentives clean. A list you can leave in one click has to stay worth reading.
Being straight about timing
The newsletter is not running yet. The site is young and there is more value in getting the guides right first than in sending a thin email every week to prove it exists.
